2006 - 2007 ISTF Project # 06 - 1415 was developed in response to the 2006-2007 Internet Scienc and Technology Fair NCT Category: Environmental Quality: Environmental Monitoring - Sensors Bergen County Academies, New Jersey The problem we are trying to solve is the changing amounts of nutrients in soil and the lack of a means to test for soil composition as well as toxins. There is currently no easy way to measure soil nutrients and then use the information to fertilize the land. To solve the ever-present problem of testing for soil nutrients, we will create a robotic system that will have sensors that test soil conditions and relay information to a computer. The computer will alert agriculturists and suggest possible types and amounts of fertilizers to replenish the nutrients.
