Guitar and Mandolin Performing Organizations 

  • The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra (NJ) is one of five non-profit musical groups in the Bloomfield Federation of Music. The orchestra, founded in 1942, performs annually throughout NJ and NY. Members perform on mall the mandolin family of instruments as well as guitar. We welcome new members of all ages and backgrounds. Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings in Bloomfield, NJ.

  • The New York Mandolin Orchestra (Manhattan) was founded in 1924. Today we are the only full-fledged mandolin orchestra in the City of New York with members from; all Boroughs of New York City, Nassau, Orange, and Rockland Counties, and the State of New Jersey. Our goals are to stimulate interest in the mandolin, and the music produced by the mandolin.

  • The Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra (Philadelphia) is named after the great composer, teacher and mandolin virtuoso, Carlo Munier. He was born in Naples, Italy and is credited with elevating the status of the mandolin to its rightful place as a classical instrument. The Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra members are proficient amateur musicians of divergent backgrounds whose dedication to the preservation of the mandolin and its music is paramount. Most of the members live in the Delaware Valley, which includes Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, South Jersey and Delaware.

Guitar and Mandolin Societies

  • The New York City Classical Guitar Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the classical guitar. We provide a forum for the listening and performing of classical guitar music through each member's right and responsibility to both teach and learn.

  • The Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society is a community of members dedicated to supporting and encouraging classical guitar activities throughout the Delaware Valley.

  • The New Jersey Classical Guitar Society is an informal association of guitar enthusiasts who gather together once a month to play for one another. Meeting locations alternate between member's homes in Hopewell Borough and Madison. More formal recitals or concerts by members may be scheduled from time to time.

  • Classical Mandolin Society of America Since the CMSA was formed in the fall of 1986, interest in classical mandolin has surged. It's the aim of CMSA to nurture the growth and assist those interested in pursuing the art of mandolin playing.
